When Does Good News Become Great News?

We often think that good news is something we can’t wait to share with our family and friends. Be it a promotion at work, passing our exams and getting the results we need or expecting a baby.

All these examples are stories of good news which become “great news” when shared. Our natural reaction and first words in situations like these are usually, “That’s so great, we are delighted and thrilled for you.”

So we have taken good news and made them great news simply by sharing them with others.

Why not think of this:-

How great does the news of God’s love become when we share that with others? I believe this is different because we are already starting with GREAT news before sharing so how much more greater can it become? Well the answer is, it becomes so great that the impact God’s love has on our lives cannot be comprehended.

I like to think of it this way. Think back to the moment you committed your life to Christ and how your life changed from that moment on. God came into your life and although it did not become a bed of roses overnight, it became easier because of His promise:

Hebrews 13:5 “Never will I leave you. Never will I forsake you.”

Such a comforting thought and all because there is a Father who simply wants to flood our lives with His unconditional love and draw us near to Him. Then we find as we draw near to God, He draws near to us ~ as a natural action and just as His word says,

Luke 4:8 “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”

In doing this, our lives are changed in such a way, that people around us in our family, work-places and neighbourhood begin to see us differently because we have God in us and our actions become more natural and although we fall time and time again, we have a loving and gracious Father who helps us back up each time and longs to wrap His arms around us.

Does this sound like great news good enough to share? Our challenge is to make this great news even greater and allow someone else’s life to be changed and impacted beyond their wildest imagination. And remember, the more we share this great news and see people’s lives impacted, the more our own lives are flooded with grace, blessings, favour and more importantly, LOVE.

So adding a twist to Mark 16: 15 “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation”, let us go into all the world and rather spread the GREAT news!!

faith

Our faith should not be seen and known by the items of clothing or jewellery we wear but by our actions and how we live and conduct ourselves.

It is easy to put faith in something you can see and although you feel good at times, how much better does it feel to have faith in a living God who we don't need to see and who continues to flood our lives with His favour, grace, faithfulness and most importantly, His love?

Sounds like hard work but it is so good when we stand and give testimony to His goodness!!
